If you have ever wondered if you can cook potato croquettes from frozen in the air fryer then the simple answer is yes, and you are missing if you are yet to give it a try.

Air fryer croquettes are easy, simple, and fast, cleanup is minimal and it is healthier cooking in the air fryer than deep-frying it. Cooking it in the oven is ok, but it does take a long time and you are not always guaranteed a crispy result. The air fryer cooks the croquettes evenly every time, it is handsfree and you do not have to worry about excess or unnecessary oil.

There is no need to thaw the potato croquettes before you air fry them, as you can cook them directly from frozen. You can serve it as an appetizer or a side dish, my children love to eat it for dinner and we serve it with other mains we would serve with mashed potatoes like baked chicken, steak and many more.

    What is potato croquettes

Potato Croquettes are basically mashed potatoes that are shaped into small logs, coated in breadcrumbs, and then fried until golden brown. The mashed potatoes in a croquette can also be filled with ham, bacon, cheese, tuna, salmon, or chicken.

Today's tutorial is made just from mashed potatoes and no other fillings, however, the same cooking method would work for any type of croquettes you have. Croquette is a french word and it is pronounced Kro-ket.

    What you will need

Frozen potato croquette: Use any brand of choice.

Salt to serve, however, this is optional as most croquettes are typically seasoned before they are coated in breadcrumbs.

Cooking oil spray: this is optional but I like to spray the air fryer basket for good measures.

    Air fryer chicken breast

Dipping sauce for potato croquettes includes bbq sauce, ketchup, aioli, garlic mayo, pesto mayo, sour cream, spicy mayo, or any of your favorite sauces.

    How to store leftovers

Leftover potato croquettes can be stored in an airtight container and placed in the fridge for up to 2 days. To reheat, preheat your air fryer to 160C/365F and cook the croquettes for 5-7 minutes until heated through. Do not overcook as this will make the croquettes dry out. Do not freeze thawed potato croquette.

    Tips

When cooking frozen foods in the air fryer, it is best to cook them in a single layer so they can cook evenly on all sides.

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket as this will result in uneven cooking. Cook in batches if need be to avoid a soggy mess.

There is no need to spray the croquettes with any oil as it already contained oil. That said, you can spray it with oil if you are not getting the desired golden brown color.

The cooking time will vary depending on the size and brand of your croquettes. Also, air fryer brands aren't made the same, the size and brand of your air fryer may affect the cooking time.
