Ground turkey chilli con carne recipe
If you want a hearty and delicious healthy one pan weeknight dinner that is economical and easy to prepare, this turkey mince chili is a perfect choice. It makes a great make-ahead meal and it also freezes well.
Turkey chili is rich, delicious and packed with many health benefits. Turkey is a lean meat, it’s a healthier alternative to ground beef and can be used in all sorts of dishes. It is also an excellent source of protein, low in fat, and the rest of the other ingredients used such as kidney beans and veggies are high in fiber, and packed with other vitamins and minerals. This dish will surely keep you full for longer and satisfied.
Another reason you should be making this chili today is because of its versatility. You can make it mild or as spicy as you want. More importantly, you can literally serve it over anything. My go-to way of enjoying it is over steamy and fluffy baked (jacket) potatoes, while my children love it with boiled white rice or chips and tortilla. You can also serve in between buns as you would with sloppy joes.
This recipe is super easy to make and it comes together fairly quickly too, you can have this on the dinner table in less than 40 minutes.

What you will need
To make this comforting and hearty turkey mince chili at home, you will need the following handful of ingredients
Ground turkey: depending on where you are reading from, this is the same as turkey mince
Kidney beans
Tomato paste
Red bell pepper: substitute with green or yellow bell pepper
Chopped tomatoes: substitute with fire-roasted chopped tomatoes
Chicken stock
Chili seasoning: I used store-bought for this recipe, however, you can easily make yours at home, my go-to combinations are cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, oregano, dried coriander and garlic powder.
Onions
Garlic
Extra virgin olive oil
Brown sugar: this is optional, I use it as it adds a hint of sweetness to the dish which balances the acidity from the tomato. You don't need a lot, a teaspoon or less should be just fine.
Salt and black pepper to taste
