Do you own an instant pot? Let me walk you through how to make ground beef pasta in an instant pot
If you own an instant pot, you can make this recipe in one pot, as I did with this instant pot chicken pasta recipe. You would cook the ground beef first, just as you would on the stovetop.
Add the pasta and tomato sauce, make sure you deglaze the bottom of the pressure cooker pot to avoid getting burn notice and cook on high pressure for 5 to 6 minutes, depending on the type of pasta used.
Stir in the cream and cheese once the cooking cycle is complete.

The best pasta for this recipe
Pasta shells (conchigliette or Conchiglie) all the way here, preferably the small ones. While other types of pasta or even noodles might work, pasta shells hold the creamy beef sauce perfectly, unlike other shapes of pasta.
Ingredients
Ground beef: I used a mix of ground beef and ground pork. Ground beef is also known as minced beef here in the UK
Pasta shell
Italian seasoning
Passata
Beef stock: I used OXO but you can use any available to you
Vegetable oil
Onions
Garlic paste
Single cream: You can use half and half, evaporated milk of double cream also known as heavy cream
Cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
How to make creamy ground beef pasta
Heat oil in a pan large skillet or pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until soft and translucent.
Add ground beef, break it up, and cook until brown. Then add the garlic paste, salt, black pepper, chili flakes, and Italian seasoning, crumble the beef stock cubes over and stir to combine. Pour the passata over the browned beef, stir to combine, and cook on medium heat for 20 minutes.
In the meantime, cook pasta in salted water according to packet instructions. Drain and set aside, if you cooked the pasta before cooking the sauce, add about a tablespoon of oil to the pasta, this stops it from sticking together. Reserve about a cup of pasta water for later.
Stir the cream into the cooked ground beef sauce, add grated cheese if using and stir until the cheese completely melts into the sauce. Taste and adjust salt and seasoning accordingly
Add the cooked pasta to the sauce, stir to combine and cook for another minute just until fully combined.
Take it off the heat and serve on its own or with some salad and homemade garlic bread.
How to store
One of the perks of making beef pasta is that it stores well in the fridge and freezer.
If you would be making this recipe in a large batch and storing it away for later, you are best portioning them into individual containers so it is easy to reheat as at when needed.
To store in the fridge: make sure that the pasta is completely cooled, portion in an airtight container, and store in the fridge for up to 3 days
In the freezer: do as above and store in the freezer for up 3 months.
This dish can be warmed in the microwave from frozen or in the oven.
