How to make air fryer turkey burgers
In a medium-sized bowl, gently mix together with your hands ground turkey, Cajun seasoning, egg, avocado, onion powder, parsley and salt.
Do not overmix the ingredients so that the meat doesn’t come out tough. Form the mixture into 4 to 6 patties, depending on how thick you want them, then place them on a plate while you preheat the air fryer.
Preheat the air fryer at 180C/360F for 3 minutes. Once the time is up, spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil and carefully place the patties in it.
Cook the burgers for 15 to 20 minutes until cooked through depending on how thick the patties are. Flip the burgers halfway through the cooking time. Note: the internal temperature of a well-cooked turkey burger must register at least 165F/75C. This is when the meat is safe to eat.
If you would be topping the burger with cheese, open the air fryer when the cooking cycle is completed, place the cheese slices on it and partially put the air fryer back without closing it so that the heat can melt the cheese.
Serve as desired on salad or in a bun.
How to cook frozen burger in air fryer
Preheat and spray the air fryer with cooking oil
Place the frozen burger in the air fryer basket and cook at 180C/360F for 15 minutes. Flip it halfway through the cooking time. Check that the burger is well-cooked before consuming it. Serve and enjoy.
Note: You may need to adjust the cooking size according to the thickness of the frozen patties. Thin patties will cook for a shorter time, while thicker ones will take longer.
Also, do not stack frozen patties. Ensure you line them on a single layer in the air fryer basket.
How to store
This burger is best eaten fresh on the day it is made. If you must refrigerate it, then make sure it is completely cooled. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer or oven.
If you made the patties ahead, place it on parchment paper so it doesn’t stick together, then keep it in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
How to make turkey burgers on the stovetop
This is very easy to make. Follow all the steps above in making the burger patties. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil on medium-high heat. Carefully place the turkey burger in the hot oil, and cook on each side for about 4-5 minutes each.
Keep an eye on it so you do not burn it. Remember, the internal temperature of cooked poultry is 165F/74C.
