Why you will love this recipe
- It is an easy and fun way to get the kids to join you in the kitchen. Let's face it: Most children would not say no to pizza. They can also personalize the topping with whatever they want.
- Minimal prep using simple storebought ingredients
- It is better than frozen pizza!
- Quick and easy to make. It is ready in under 10 minutes, from prep to finish.
- Perfect for when life gets busy and you don't have much time to cook
- You can serve it as a snack, side dish, or main course. As I mentioned above, when life gets busy, this French bread pizza can serve as your dinner
- You can use any bread you have: flatbread, naan, sourdough loaf, sliced bread, and many more.
What you will need
You will need the following ingredients to make your French bread pizza.
French loaf: I used Ciabatta, which is technically a French bread, but I like it as it is wider, flatter, and, more importantly, sits nicely in the air fryer basket.
Pizza sauce: I used storebought pizza sauce, but if you would instead make your own, check my no-cook pizza sauce recipe.
Salami: substitute with any other toppings you prefer. You can add pepperoni, chopped onions, mushrooms, olives, chopped ham, fresh tomatoes and many more.
Mozzarella cheese: I use grated mozzarella, but you can also use fresh mozzarella if that's what you have.
Dried oregano, basil or Italian seasoning: Add any dried herbs you want to your pizza
How to make air fryer French bread pizza
Cut the fresh loaf into halves lengthwise, then cut each slice into your desired length. More importantly, cut into a size that fits nicely in your air fryer basket.
Place the bread in the air fryer basket and cook at 360F / 180C for 1 minute.
Spoon the pizza sauce on the bread and spread it evenly with the back of your spoon.
Sprinkle a generous amount of cheese to cover the sauce and cook at 360F / 180C for 1-2 minutes or just enough time to melt the cheese.
PS: I use this method to prevent the salami from burning or flying off the bread while cooking. Suppose you are using another type of topping that is a bit weighty, like bell peppers, mushrooms, and the like. There is no need to melt the cheese first. You can add all the toppings and cook straight away.
Remove the air fryer basket from the air fryer and carefully top the mozzarella cheese with salami.
Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. Carefully remove the French bread pizza from the air fryer, and sprinkle with more herbs if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!

Tips
Depending on how many mouths you are feeding and the size and shape of your air fryer, you may need to cook this pizza in batches. If that is the case, prep all the French bread pizza you need and cook only one batch at a time. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Cooking the next batch immediately after the first will be quicker since the basket is already hot.
