In need of a quick pizza dough recipe that gives a great tasting crust. I have got you covered with this super easy instant pizza dough.
This is a basic no rise recipe (proofing) and it comes together quickly in about 10 minutes. Let me show you how to make the best homemade pizza in easy steps.
This recipe is great for beginners as it is amazingly easy to make. It needs no rising time, not much prep needed. In fact, this basic quick pizza dough recipe uses dried active yeast (dried fast action yeast). What that means is you don’t need to activate the yeast or use fresh yeast in this recipe.
It doesn’t require any special flour like Italian 00 bread flour or strong bread flour. We are keeping it simple and basic.
Remember, you are not competing with your pizzeria. This basic dough recipe uses plain flour, also known as all-purpose flour. It is delicious and tastes better than the ones you’ll get from your local pizza place.
It is homemade, rustic, perfect and doesn’t compromise on flavour, texture, and taste, you get perfect pizza crust at all times.

This is my go-to recipe and this no-cook pizza sauce for over six years now and it has never failed me even when I am too lazy to knead the dough properly.
I think it would be disrespectful to say this is a dump-and-go pizza recipe, but this is super quick and easy to make. You don’t need any speciality/skill to make this quick pizza dough and no precision is needed too.
This recipe only calls for 6 ingredients that may already be in your store cupboard.
Your pizza dough can either make or break the pizza itself; this is why I have ensured this recipe is foolproof. This recipe has just the right texture and flavour that will transport you to Italy, only that it is homemade, which is better in my opinion.
Ditch the takeaway or frozen pizza and eat something fresh, make 10 minutes super easy instant pizza dough.
I have made this pizza dough in the stand mixer, but you can also mix it in a bowl and knead on a worktop. If you feel very adventurous, you can mix all the ingredients on a worktop.
Best flour for pizza
For this beginner recipe, I used plain flour (UK), or all-purpose flour (US). Although it doesn’t have much protein in it as strong bread flour or Italian 00 bread flour, it still gets the job done.
Plain flour (all-purpose flour) is a cupboard staple that is why it is commonly used for homemade pizza dough.
Also, as this is a no-rise dough recipe, there would be waiting around to see the science behind how the gluten relaxes to form a stretchy dough and chewier pizza crust.
All Purpose flour is a cupboard staple and it is versatile and used in most baking recipes or bread recipes. Bread flour is great for bread making including pizza, it is also high in gluten and Tipo '00' flour is the best for Italian pizza.
I have used both bread flour and all-purpose flour for making pizza and they both resulted in crispy crust and a chewy pizza base.
That being said, go for it if what you have on hand is strong bread flour or Tipo '00' flour.

How to make this quick pizza dough recipe at home
Here is a quick overview of how the process goes, 30 minutes from start to finish.
- Preheat oven at 240C / 455F for conventional oven
- Make the dough: mix, knead, shape and roll/stretch into a circle or any other shape desired.
- Top with pizza sauce, cheese and other protein or veggies of choice
- Bake in a hot oven or pizza oven
- Take it out of the oven, slice immediately, serve and enjoy.
Using a stand mixer to mix the dough: insert the dough hook
Add flour, salt, sugar and yeast into a stand mixer bowl and mix to combine or well blended. Make a well in the middles of the dry ingredients, then add the water and olive oil. Mix on low speed for about 3 to 5 minutes or until the pizza dough no longer sticks to the side of the mixer and it is smooth and stretchy.
If the flour is too sticky after mixing for a while, add more flour, a little at a time to help the dough come together
In order to know the dough is ready to use, poke it; It should spring back. Alternatively, try to pull the dough and it shouldn’t tear easily and should stretch slightly. Turn the dough unto a worktop, then oil the bowl. Return the dough to the mixer bowl and cover with a clean towel while you prepare your toppings.
Divide the dough into two and shape into a ball size. Place the dough unto a lightly floured worktop (use flour, fine semolina, or corn flour) and roll flat into a large circle (about 10 inch) and place unto lightly floured baking paper before placing on a tray. Alternatively, place on a perforated pizza tray.
Repeat this process with the remaining shaped dough.
Top the dough with sauce and other toppings of choice and bake in the hot oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
How to make quick pizza dough on a worktop
Add the flour, sugar, salt and yeast into a bowl, mix to combine, make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients then add warm water and olive oil. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured worktop and gently knead until smooth and springy.
This should be about 5 minutes at most depending on how well you knead with the base of your palm. Leave it to rest while you prepare the topping. This recipe would make two 10 inches pizza but you can roll them to how much pizza sizes you want.
My favourite pizza toppings include
These lists are not limited to the below, think it, top it with, make it fun and enjoy
- Shredded chicken, crispy bacon, and garlic oil
- Mixed bell peppers, sweet corn, and mushrooms
- Ham and cheese (my kid’s favourites)
- Tomato, extra cheese, and basil.
- Pepperoni and cheese (my kid’s favourites)
- Spicy beef, jalapeno, and sliced mushrooms
- Meaty feast
Tips for making the best quick homemade pizza
Double this recipe to suit your need
Make sure you bake the pizza immediately, so it doesn’t rise while you leave it sitting on the countertop.
Make sure you bake the pizza in a hot oven
Stay away from wet cheese like mozzarella that is not pre-shredded as that may lead to soggy pizza in the middle. I don’t mind these though, as it makes it feel like Neapolitan style pizza but if it is not for you, stick to the good ol’ cheddar cheese
Also, avoid adding too many toppings as this can also lead to a soggy bottom, trust me less is more when it comes to pizza topping.
