Learn how to make easy homemade pizza sauce from scratch with this recipe. This no cook homemade red sauce recipe only takes 5 minutes to come together. It is about to be the best pizza sauce recipe you would ever make. It is gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and keto-friendly.

    Homemade Pizza Sauce Recipe

Get your DIY pants on and let's make the easiest pizza sauce ever. There is no better time to share this recipe than now. Because your pizza night or should I say pizza day just got better.

This sauce is better than store-bought, and you would be saying goodbye to it forever after trying this recipe. You would also be saving on money when you make yours at home from scratch, you do not have to worry about any jargons on the label that you can’t pronounce.

You wouldn’t believe how easy and quick this homemade sauce is, it is my go-to sauce on a pizza night especially when time is of the essence. Otherwise, you would find me making this quick tomato sauce.

This authentic easy pizza sauce recipe uses a handful of pantry staple ingredients. I didn’t use olive oil in this recipe to keep it healthy. Not really, just doing a check and balance by saving the extra calories for the cheese on my pizza. We love cheesy pizza in my household.

I get my daughter involved whenever I am making this recipe as it involves no cooking and it is a fun way to get her cooking with me in the kitchen. I lay out the ingredients and allow her to mix away. After all, pizza is one of her favourites and it is only fair she knows how it is made.

I do not limit this sauce for pizza recipes alone, you would also find me using it in my pasta dishes, meatballs or any other Italian dishes as well. I love how thick and rich in flavour the sauce is. Sure you would too!

This recipe is enough for 3 x 10 inch pizza dough and it makes about 1 ½ cups in total.

What is in my no-cook pizza sauce

    Passata

Tomato paste also know as tomato concentrate or tomato puree

    Dried basil

    Dried oregano

    Garlic granules

    Dried parsley

    Salt

Sugar: this is optional but recommended as this recipe only used a teaspoon of sugar which is safe and healthy in my opinion even if you are on a low carb diet. You may want to skip it if you are strictly on a keto diet.

    Ingredients variation

    Paprika

    Onion powder

Red pepper flakes or Tabasco sauce

    ingredients.

How to make easy homemade pizza sauce

This is why I love this no-cook pizza sauce recipe, it is super quick, 2 to 5 minutes tops and you are done.

In a small bowl, add passata, tomato paste, basil, parsley, oregano, garlic granules, salt and sugar. Using a hand whisk, whisk the sauce together until well combined.

Use on pizza dough as desired and store the remaining for use later.

    How to store

This sauce keeps well in the fridge even without the addition of olive oil for up to 7 days or even longer.

To store in the freezer: portion into batches about half a cup and freeze for up to 6 months.

Other alternatives for pizza dough topping

feeling adventurous, skip the conventional red sauce for the following.

White sauce, also known as bechamel, use this homemade parsley sauce on your pizza instead of the conventional tomato sauce

    Pesto

    Alfredo sauce and many more

    Harissa sauce

    Piri Piri sauce

Have I missed any out, feel free to share your favourites with us in the comment box below.

    Tips

    • Not a fan of tomato paste or you do not have one at hand, use passata, or canned crushed tomatoes and the herbs, give it a quick mix and you are 10 minutes away from eating your homemade pizza.

If the sauce is too thin which might likely be, thicken it by cooking it over medium heat for some few minutes on the stove top to reduce to desired consistency.

    • Add red pepper flakes to this sauce for some kick
    • Make it sugar free to suit your dietary need
    • Swap the passata for ketchup or barbeque sauce
    fresh uncooked pizza.

Other fakeaway recipe you should try

Chinese salt and pepper chicken, this would surely give your takeaway a run for their money.

How about some easy Indian instant pot chicken butter curry, perfect with some fluffy basmati rice or brown rice.

For some vegetarian option, try this instant pot lentil curry.
