What you will need
You will need a handful of ingredients to get this air fryer chicken thighs and potatoes to the dinner table in under an hour.
Potatoes: any kind of potatoes will work here: red potatoes, Yukon, Maris piper, and even baby potatoes.
Chicken thighs: I used bone-in chicken thighs for this recipe. You can use boneless chicken thighs, provided your potatoes are cut into bite-sized pieces so they can all cook evenly.
Spices: I used my homemade paprika spice blend made with smoked paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, parsley, red pepper flakes and ground cumin.

How to make air fryer chicken and potatoes
Prep: Wash the potatoes, peel them (optional), then cut them into bite sizes and add to a bowl (make sure they are completely pat dry with a paper kitchen towel). Trim any unwanted fat and excess skin from the chicken thighs and set aside.
Preheat the air fryer to 185C / 365F for 3-5 minutes. Carefully line the bottom air fryer basket with foil.
In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, cumin, turmeric, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt and black pepper. The spice blend will yield about 3 Tablespoons. You will only need 2 Tablespoons for this recipe.
Drizzle 1 Tablespoon olive oil over the potatoes, then season with 1 Tablespoon of the spice blend. Mix to combine
Transfer the potatoes to the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they don't overlap.
Using the same bowl, season the chicken with 1 Tablespoon of the spice blend and olive oil and mix well until all the chicken is coated in the spice mixture.
Place seasoned chicken thighs on top of the potatoes skin side down.
Air fry for 20 minutes at 185C / 365F. Remove the basket from the air fryer, then move the chicken to one side and move the potatoes from under the chicken around so they cook evenly. Flip the chicken thighs skin side up.
Cook for another 20 - 25 minutes or until the potatoes are fully cooked with an internal temperature of 165F /74C and the potatoes are fluffy on the inside.
Finish it off with a sprinkle of chopped fresh parsley. Serve with a side of mixed vegetables for a more balanced meal. Enjoy!

How much turmeric is added? I saw it in the video and in the body of the recipe but not in the list of ingredients/amounts. (Mine is cooking as I type this, so I haven't tasted it yet--it probably is wonderful even with the turmeric missing.) My first time using an air fryer...wish me luck!

Hi Elle, I added 1/2 Tablespoon Turmeric. Thanks for pointing that out to me.I hope your air fryer chicken and potatoes turned out okay? Thank you.

I have already commented once, but I forgot to mention that the dish takes much less time than indicated in the recipe. After 20 min., and a little reorganizing, the chicken was at 165F in about 10 min, and the potatoes were crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. However, you did note that times can vary.
Marlene Lavallee says
There are a few places in the instructions which need clarification. In Step 3 you mention red pepper flakes, but these do not appear in the list of ingredients. In Step 3 you have added the list of the spices again, without any particular purpose. A major problem is in Step 9 where the instruction is to cook for another 20-25 minutes or until the potatoes are fully cooked with an internal temperature of 165C/365F. I think you mean the thighs must reach that temperature. The potatoes just need to be softened and cooked. More important is the temperature of the chicken.
I also found that the potatoes did not need any extra precooking when roasted with boneless thighs. .

Thank you so much, Marlene for your detailed feedback. I will check the recipe instructions and update it accordingly. I really appreciate your feedback. X
