Sausages in air fryer is simply the best

I can tell you now that you have been cooking sausages all wrong. If you own an air fryer and you have never thought to make sausages in it then I do not know what is stopping you. Just like air fryer bacon, sausages are another easy meal to make in an air fryer.

You need no expertise to make this and you can have it by cutting the links to the table in 15 minutes. No oil splatter and you do not need to keep cleaning the oven after every use.

I can think of so many reasons that make it the best method but let me just name a few

    It is convenient!

Perfect if you are cooking for one or two people. Very compact way of cooking.

No babysitting needed, this is a straight to the point cooking procedure. In fact, you can cook the sausages alongside cubed potatoes, peppers, bacon and egg-bake or muffins.

It works for all types of sausages, beef or pork, link sausages, bratwursts, Italian sausages, hot dogs, breakfast sausages, patties and the like. The only thing is that the cooking time will vary because of the thickness of the sausage meat used.

You can cook the sausages from frozen, although, I am not a fan of this but I do this when I have no other options.

No need to preheat the air fryer basket.

    Tools needed

An air fryer obliviously: I use COSORI 5.7L XL

Instant meat thermometer, this is an important accessory for your air fryer

Tong: it makes the job of flipping and transferring the sausages easy

Parchments paper: this is optional. I honestly do not bother with this. Cleaning an air fryer basket is an easy job.

How to make sausages in air fryer

The shape of the air fryer basket will determine how much meat you can fit in. I use COSORI 5.7L XL and I am able to fit up to twelve in but I am cooking 5 today for a quick brunch.

Cut the link of the sausages if desired, this is recommended for easy turning later.

Arrange them in the air fryer basket leaving space in between each of them. Try not to overcrowd the basket.

Set the timer of the air fryer to 180C/365F and cook for 15 minutes giving a shake halfway through or flip with a tong. You can start checking from 10 minutes for doneness, this is important if using thin sausages.

text over image quotes piercing the sausages is optional.

To be sure the sausage is thoroughly cooked, test with an instant meat thermometer, the internal temperature should read 160F/73C

Transfer to a plate with a tong, serve and enjoy!

    FAQs

How long to cook sausages in air fryer

This is dependent on the thickness of the sausage and the temperature cook it. Smaller sausages, such as cocktail sausages, or thinner varieties like chipolatas, will cook for a shorter amount of time. It takes between 8-15 minutes at 180C/365F to cook sausages in the air fryer. The internal temperature of sausage must be cooked to 160F/73F

    How do you unlink sausages

The best and easiest way of unlinking sausages is by cutting with scissors or a sharp knife. If using the sausages for patties then you can cut the casing open lengthwise using a sharp knife.

Can you cook sausages and bacon together in an air fryer

Yes, you can, this depends on the size of the sausage you are cooking, it will take an average of 10 to 15 minutes. Bacon cooks for about 10 minutes. in this case, cook the sausages first for about 5 minutes then add the bacon along with it in the air fryer basket making sure it is not overcrowded.

How to prevent air fryer from smoking

It is rare the air fryer smokes when cooking sausages but if it does, the most effective way is to add about ⅓ cup of water in the air fryer basket. That way when the oil is hitting the water in the basket, it is not smoking the whole house. The water would stop this from happening. Alternatively, use air fryer parchment paper under the basket.
