If you love homemade Starbucks copycat recipe then you will love this iced brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso. It is such a mouthful, I agree but that could be because this iced coffee is the real deal.
It is dairy-free and super refreshing, a good one if you are vegan or lactose intolerant. Let me show you how to make it better than Starbucks at home in easy steps.
Copycat Starbucks Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso
It is getting to that time of the year again for iced coffee, today I am sharing with you the latest spring coffee recipe from Starbucks.
I love this coffee drink taste because it is not overly sweet or flavoured. The brown sugar complements the espresso so well. With every sip you take, you can feel the hint of cinnamon but it is not overpowering the whole drink.
The best part is that you have everything to make it at home. Yes, that includes the oat milk too except you don’t eat porridge
Thanks to Tiktok again, we can now replicate this easy drink at home at half the fractions it would cost of buying from Starbucks. On the Tiktok video, this is the Starbucks recipe as shared by @shorebucks. 2 pumps of brown sugar syrup, pinch of cinnamon powder, 3 blonde shots of espresso and Grande scoop of ice.
You might find the 3 shots of espresso too strong especially if you are only making a glass (250-300ml). Fell free to adjust this to taste.
Iced Shaken espresso ingredients
Freshly brewed espresso
Oat milk: I used homemade oat milk but any store-bought sweetened or unsweetened oat milk would work here. Use whole milk if you would prefer a non-plant based milk.
Brown sugar syrup: This is a simple sugar syrup made with brown sugar and water. The common ratio is 1:1, i.e equal part of water and sugar or use 1 ½ cup of sugar to 1 cup of water. Check my homemade vanilla syrup for how to make your own.
Ice
Hot water: you need this if you do not have sugar syrup
Tools needed
Mason jar with lid or a cocktail shaker
Or blender shaker cup
How to make iced brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso (Starbucks Copycat)
You need between 2 to 3 shots of freshly brewed Starbucks blonde espresso or your favourite brand of espresso for this recipe. A shot of espresso is between 30 to 44ml.
Make the brown syrup: to a small mixing bowl, add brown sugar, hot boiling water and stir until the sugar dissolves.
To a large cup or shaker, add brown sugar syrup, brewed espresso, cinnamon, ice, cover tightly then shake for a few seconds until frothy.
Transfer the shaken espresso with the ice to a serving glass, add more ice then top with cold oat milk. Stir if desired, drink and enjoy!
