Air Fryer Bacon (super crispy and easy)

Air fryer bacon! This is hands down the best way to eat and enjoy bacon. It is crispy and perfectly cooked. Cooking bacon in an air fryer is hands-free, mess and smoke-free and super easy.

    Bacon in air fryer

If you’ve still got your air fryer in the box, please now is the time to start using it. I started using mine on the day it was delivered and so far, I am loving it! The fact that I can cook bacon in an air fryer is a plus for me. Super crispy and delicious!

You might think bacon should be one of the easiest things to cook. Well, I beg to differ, air fryer bacon is the best and way better than the oven. Also, I have tried cooking it in the microwave in the past and it was not fun at all, splatter everywhere and it was everything but crispy.

While cooking in an air fryer can be hands free, it is worth it sometimes to check whatever you are cooking apart from cake, from time to time to avoid overcooking the food.

It doesn’t matter which air fryer you own now, cosori, power air fryer, nuwave, they all work the same but with different wattage. To get the best out of your air fryer meal, keep an eye on it and give the basket a shake from time to time so the food cooks evenly and crisp up nicely too.

    Why you need this gadget

I use cosori 5.7ltr air fryer and the best part of cooking in it is that the oil from the food drips into the basket of the gadget and the food doesn’t fry out in the process too.

You don’t need to line the basket with a parchment paper or aluminium foil while cooking bacon as the whole essence of using the air fryer is to get rid of excess oil.

The basket does a great job of containing all the unnecessary grease or fat whilst keeping your kitchen smoke free. The unobstructed air circulation would also yield a crispy bacon all round

The best part is you can also save the bacon fat to use later in your other dishes or even use it to fry your eggs. Also, you can cook the bacon in the air fryer from frozen. To start, I add the bacon to the air fryer and cook on 200C/400 for 2 minutes. This defrosts the bacon and that way, I can separate them and line them in a single layer to help it cook properly.

If you have made bacon in your air fryer before and it smokes, add a little bit of water to the bottom of the pan holding the basket and this would help prevent this. I find cooking the bacon of low heat from 160C/320F prevents it from smoking too.

How to make crispy air fryer bacon

Preheat the air fryer to 180C/360F. Mine is automatically timed for 4 minutes

Arrange the bacon in a single layer in the basket. If your bacon is longer than the basket, you can cut the bacon in half so it fits in the basket.

Set the temperature to 165C/330F and cook for 10 minutes. Flip the bacon and continue to cook for another 3 minutes or until it crispy to your liking.

Transfer the bacon to a paper towel to drain the excess grease using a thong. (Be careful, the basket would be extremely hot, DO NOT TOUCH WITH YOUR BARE HANDS)

    Serve and enjoy

How long to cook bacon for in an air fryer

Most recipes online recommends 400F/200C  for 10 mins, what they failed to mention is that; not all air fryer are made and built the same. Depending on the wattage of your gadget, 400C/200F @ 10 mins may burn the bacon. If you would be cooking using this temperature, start checking from 5 minutes

    Cook @ 180C/360 F for 6 to 8 minutes

    160C/320F for 8 to 12 minutes

As usual for all of these cooking times, check halfway through as that would help you to determine how much longer you need to cook it for. Also, the thickness of the bacon would also be a determinant for how long to cook it for.
