Why I love garlic bread

Nothing beats homemade food that is if it is well cooked.

It only requires 15 minutes of cooking time from start to finish. Who can hate on that??

It freezes well too, and leftovers can be used as croutons in soup or salad. You can reheat garlic bread in the oven or toaster.

How To Make Baguette Garlic Bread

First, preheat the oven then cut the baguette into slices but not cutting it all through (see image for reference) It looks like Hasselback potato at this point.

You would need butter that is softened and easily spreadable or in room temperature.

Finely chop the parsley, and mince the garlic. Add the butter to a bowl, parsley and garlic then add salt to taste. Mix to combine and slather each layer of the baguette slices.

Wrap it in a foil and bake in the oven for 15 minutes. Oh heavens! I bet your kitchen smells so good already.

Can I Make Cheesy Garlic Bread With This Recipe

Definitely! You can make cheesy garlic bread from scratch using the ingredients listed above but with the addition of melting cheese of choice.

I would recommend mozzarella or cheddar cheese. It melts and stretches well. Cheesy garlic bread is a winner at every gathering or party.

You can also use yeasted dough like a plain pizza base and make delicious pizza garlic bread. Turn this into a pull-apart garlic bread using bread like sourdough or baguette loaf. Pull apart garlic bread is great for parties.

Type of Bread for this recipe

You don’t need a fancy bread or an artisan bread to make this delicious side dish. A sourdough loaf with the right amount of crust and French baguette are good for garlic bread.

I have used fresh French bread for this recipe. You can use Ciabatta too. Just keep it simple

Can I Make Homemade Garlic Bread Recipe With Regular Bread

Absolutely, if you need to make an emergency garlic bread and you don’t have any baguette or other crusty bread. Turn to your regular loaf but I would only recommend thick slices in this case.

In my opinion, garlic bread tastes better when there is a bit of crunch to it and when it is not soggy. In other words, let it crisp up a bit before you take it out of the oven. You don’t need to wrap it in a foil too.

The whole process should take less than 10 minutes from start to finish. Add grated parmesan or pecorino for a crispy topping.

Can I Make Garlic Bread Without An Oven

The simple answer is yes, you can make garlic bread without an oven. Spread the garlic butter on both sides of the bread and toast on a skillet for about 1 minute on each side or till when the desired crunch is achieved. Be careful not to burn it.

How Long to Cook Garlic Bread

Garlic bread typically cooks in the oven between 8 and 15 minutes with additional minutes to let it crisp up. This is typically between 2 and 5 minutes. Always use a preheated oven for optimum result.

How To Serve it

Garlic bread is perfect with any pasta dish, soups, pizza or on its own.

    1. Hello Selma, yes, you can butter the bread the night before and place it in the fridge or freezer. Ensure it is wrapped tightly with clingfilm (plastic bag) so that moisture doesn’t get into it.

  1. I felt 1cm slices were too thin so I cut closer to an inch. I had to use garlic powder, and on half the loaf I also stuffed in finely shredded (using my zester) Asiago cheese. My husband isn’t a fan of cheese, but he really doesn’t know what he’s missing. He DID love the bread and wants me to make it again. I will definitely add cheese to my half when I make it again. Thanks for the great recipe!

I use this recipe, but mix the garlic and parsley together first: when you mix this through the butter, it is easier to tell when the garlic is evenly distributed.

    1. Don’t we all? I am guilty as charged when it comes to eating too much bread. Thanks for stopping by Kankana.
