What else can I add to bulk up this dish and make it vegetarian?
Below are the vegetables I would add to this pasta dish
Mushroom
Spinach
Cherry tomatoes
Zucchini
Tips
- Cook the pasta in salted boiling water. You should be able to taste the salt in the water. There is nothing more painful than eating a bland meal. If you get this right, then you are on to a good start.
- Make this a one-pot pasta dish, instead of cooking the pasta separately, cook them together in a pan. Fewer dishes to do.
- For creamy lemon pasta, add half a cup of double cream to this recipe. You can also add baby spinach too.
- Swap parmesan for a vegetarian version
- Use regular spaghetti, angel hair pasta or any other pasta of choice
Make garlic lemon pasta with shrimp or chicken
You can agree with me that shrimp, butter and lemon is food marriage made in heaven. They just work and it is beautiful. This garlic butter shrimp recipe here is another of my favourites.
If you would be adding shrimp to this recipe, ensure that it’s cooked through and pink. This also goes for the chicken too. I would use a boneless chicken thigh or chicken breast for more flavour.
You can also serve it with salmon and an extra squeeze of lemon juice.
How to store it.
This recipe is best eaten fresh but if you must then keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a day. Warm in the microwave or the stovetop.
