Cauliflower steaks recipe
Are you looking for an easy plant-based meal? Then today roasted cauliflower steaks tick all the boxes for that. It is simple, quick and delicious, while we can’t pretend it isn’t the real thing, that is beef steak; one thing you can’t take away from it is how fresh and delicately delicious it tastes! It would literarily melt in your mouth.
Who would have thought cutting cauliflower head into a thick slab to make a pretend steak could taste as something served in a Michelin restaurant? Thanks to the marinade, butter and EVVO used, they took this vegetable from bland to great.
I always say, when in doubt, add some salt, pepper, paprika and garlic… and you should be fine.
I like serving this low carb healthy dish as brunch or a light meal and it is definitely becoming a family favourite as my children would only eat broccoli and cauliflower. Any other vegetable apart from spinach you would have to persuade them.

Ingredients
Whole cauliflower
Smoked paprika
Garlic granules
Turmeric
Extra virgin olive oil
Butter
Salt
Onion powder
Freshly ground black pepper
How to make oven roasted cauliflower steaks
Preheat the oven at 200C/400F conventional oven and 180C/365F Fan oven
Rinse the cauliflower head under running water to remove any dirt and carefully pat dry or leave to air dry. Remove the outer leaves of the cauliflower head and trim off the stems.
Cut the cauliflower into two halves lengthwise. Then cut each half about 1-inch thick slab to the stem. You would have some cauliflower florets as excess, save them to use in another recipe roast along with the steaks.
Place the cauliflower steaks in a roasting pan and season both sides with salt and pepper.
In a small bowl, whisk together extra virgin olive oil, melted butter, garlic granules, smoked paprika and turmeric.
Brush the seasoning mix generously on both sides of the cauliflower
Place it in the preheated oven and roast for 10 minutes (based on the thickness of my steak), take it out of the oven, carefully flip it to the other side and continue to roast for another 10 to 15 minutes or until fork tender and golden around the edges.
Serve immediately with some sauce like chimichurri or green sauce and other sides of choice. It is also great with some toasted pine nuts, I didn’t have any on hand when I made this recipe. Enjoy
How to make cauliflower steaks in an airfryer
Follow all the instructions above and cook in a preheated air fryer at 380C/190F for 15 minutes. Flip if halfway through so it cooks and brown evenly. You can also grill the steaks too if you fancy or pan fry it in some butter and EVOO and finish off in the oven so it cooks perfectly
How to serve it
This can be served as a side to rice, chips or potatoes, try this Parmentier potatoes, spinach rice or simply serve on its own with tomatoes and crumbled feta cheese and some pine nuts
How to store
Make sure you let it cool completely before storing in the fridge. Cooked cauliflower would stay fresh in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days. I like to consume mine within 3 days.
