Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 Tablespoons full-fat mayonnaise
  • ½ Tablespoon garlic paste
  • ½ Tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil or cooking spray

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, panko breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, garlic paste, onion powder, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), parsley, salt and pepper. Using your hand, gently mix until well combined.
  • Divide the mixture into 6-8 portions and form into patties at about 1 cm thickness.
Make a shallow dent in the middle of each patty. This will prevent the patties from puffing up while cooking.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 390°F/185°C. Grease the air fryer basket with olive oil or cooking spray.
  • Place chicken patties in a single layer dimple side up and cook for 8-12 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and fully cooked to an internal temperature of 165F/74C.
  • Remove the patties from the air fryer basket as the residual will continue the chicken. Rest it on a plate for 2 minutes before serving it. Enjoy

Notes

The thickness of the patties will determine how long you cook it. For the best result, start checking from 7 minutes and check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. The internal temperature of cooked chicken safe for consumption is 165F/74C.
How to store
Store any leftover chicken patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Tips
  • Keep the sizes of the patties similar so that they can cook evenly at the same time.
  • If you do not have mayonnaise, substitute it with mashed avocado or one small egg.
  • Grease your palm with a little oil before forming the patties. This will prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands.
  • Cook the patties in batches if need be. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket or overlap the burgers.
