Equipment

  • kitchen scale
  • Rolling Pin
  • Mixing bowl
  • Pizza tray

Ingredients

  • 400 g all-purpose flour plain flour
  • 10 g Fast action yeast mostly comes in a sachet
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 200 ml Warm water
  • Cornmeal flour to roll the dough optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven at 240C / 455F for conventional oven

Using a stand mixer to mix the dough: insert the dough hook

  • Add flour, salt, sugar, and yeast into a stand mixer bowl and mix to combine or well blended. Make a well in the middles of the dry ingredients, then add the water and olive oil. Mix on low speed for about 3 to 5 minutes or until the pizza dough no longer sticks to the side of the mixer and it is smooth and stretchy. (if the flour is too sticky after mixing for a while, add more flour, a little at a time to help the dough come together)
  • In order to know the dough is ready to use, poke it; It should spring back. Alternatively, try to pull the dough and it shouldn’t tear easily and should stretch slightly. Turn the dough unto a worktop, then oil the bowl. Return the dough to the mixer bowl and cover with a clean towel while you prepare your toppings.
  • Divide the dough into two and shape into a ball size. Place the dough unto a lightly floured worktop (use flour, fine semolina, or corn flour) and roll flat into a large circle (about 10 inch) and place unto lightly floured baking paper before placing on a tray. Alternatively, place on a perforated pizza tray.
  • Repeat this process with the remaining shaped dough.
  • Top the dough with sauce and other toppings of choice and bake in the hot oven for 10 to 15 minutes.

How to make pizza dough on a worktop

  • Add the flour, sugar, salt and yeast into a bowl, mix to combine, make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients then add warm water and olive oil. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured worktop and gently knead until smooth and springy.
  • This should be about 5 minutes at most depending on how well you knead with the base of your palm. Leave it to rest while you prepare the topping. This recipe would make two 10 inches pizza but you can roll them to how much pizza sizes you want.
