Equipment

  • Baking tray

Ingredients

  • 1 kg Potatoes maris piper, yukon gold or king edward
  • ½ tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Black pepper to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper or as needed
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Wash the potatoes so it is dirt free. You can also peel the potatoes if you want but it is not needed for this recipe. Potato skins have some nutrients that are great for the body.
  • Preheat the oven at 200C/400F for a fan oven and 220C/425F for a conventional oven. Prepare a baking tray by lining it with a baking sheet or a parchment paper. You can omit the liner if you have a non-stick baking pan.
  • Cut the potatoes into desired sizes, I cut mine to about 1 cm thick. Make it thicker for chunkier chips and don’t cut it too thin as it would burn.

  • Add the sliced potatoes to a bowl and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain and spread the potatoes on a kitchen towel in a single layer, take another kitchen towel and pat the potatoes dry. This stage is important for a crispy result.
