Air Fryer Salmon Marinade

This is the best umami air fryer salmon marinade you will ever need. It is sweet, sticky, and, more importantly, delicious. The fish is tender, moist, and simply melts in your mouth. In today's post, you'll learn not only the best marinade for cooking fish but also the temperature to cook salmon in the air fryer.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Salmon fillets
  • ¼ cup honey substitute with 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 Tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, honey, garlic paste, chili paste, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a bowl until combined.

  • Pour the marinade over the salmon fillets or salmon side (whichever you are using). Gently massage the marinade on the salmon so that it is flavored evenly.

  • Leave to marinate for 15 to 30 minutes before cooking in the air fryer.
    Note: Take the fish out of the fridge right before you marinate it. That way, you can leave it out with the marinade, allowing it to come to room temperature before air frying. This will also ensure that the salmon cooks evenly.

Tips for cooking perfect air fryer salmon
  • Make sure to preheat your air fryer before cooking the salmon. It will ensure even cooking.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Leave enough space between each fillet for hot air to circulate.
  • Do not overcook your salmon. It will dry out and become tough; you don't want that. It's better to slightly undercook it and let it rest for a few minutes before serving, as the residual heat will continue to cook the fish. For safe consumption, the internal temperature should reach 145F /63C.
  • Cooking time will vary depending on the wattage and make of your air fryer
  • Feel free to adjust the ingredients to your taste and preference. For example, if you prefer a sweeter marinade, add more honey.
  • If you don't have an air fryer, you can still enjoy this delicious recipe by baking the marinated salmon in a preheated oven at 400F /200C
