Cranberry sauce is really inexpensive, you may find it convenient to pick one up from the store but I tell you, once you try this homemade cranberry sauce from scratch, you would never reach out for that store-bought again.  Let me tell you why you should be making your own this Christmas or any other day. Not only is this sauce great on turkey, or other holiday roasts, it is perfect with breakfast and in sandwiches too as a relish.

Why this Instant pot cranberry sauce is the best

  • This instant pot cranberry sauce recipe only requires minimal preps and a handful of ingredients. It is a dump and go recipe
  • It is quick and easy, only 2 minutes cooking time in your instant pot electric pressure cooker and 15 minutes on the stovetop although it does take longer in a crockpot (slow cooker)
  • It is packed full of flavour, your regular store-bought cranberry sauce uses water and sugar. My homemade cranberry sauce is infused with holiday flavours orange, orange zest, cinnamon and sugar.
  • This can be made ahead, makes a good gift and it stores very well too
  • Cranberry sauce is not only for Christmas turkey, but it is also perfect all year round. I love it with some yogurt or sandwiched in my vanilla sponge cake
  • This recipe is fool-proof and it can be made with your eyes closed, although I don’t recommend doing that.
  • This condiment is fresh, bright, sweet and tangy.

Step 1: Add the cranberries to a sieve and give it a good rinse

Step 2: Turn on your instant pot, then add the cranberries, orange juice, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon and gently stir to combine. Lock the instant pot pressure cooker to safety and move the valve to sealing position.

Step 3: Select the saute button and stir the sauce to until it thickens and reduce in size. Take the inner pot out of the instant pot and leave to cool completely at room temperature before storing the sauce in a clean airtight jar.
