Quick and easy iced matcha green tea latte made at home in easy steps. This Starbucks iced matcha latte copycat recipe is creamy, light, refreshing, healthy and completely vegan.

Save yourself some coins from coffee shops by making this cold drink cheaper at home without compromising on flavours and taste. A great alternative to coffee or regular tea.

    Homemade iced matcha latte recipe

I only recently started drinking matcha tea, and I haven’t been disappointed. It is a good pick me up on a summer day or any other days just like my popular iced coffee recipe.

It can be made hot if that is what you are in to. I like it both ways but when it is hot like it is around this time of the year, I stock my freezer with ice and drink iced beverages all day long.

If you are yet to try matcha tea then I should warn you, it can be addictive in a good way. It is unbelievably good, easy to prepare and no, matcha tea is not for posh people alone!

It is colour green and that should tell you some things; calmness, refreshing, peaceful and all that good stuff. so yes, matcha tea is for everyone, both old and young. The best part is that it can be made with only 3 ingredients and it’s easy to prepare. I like mine a tad sweet, hence why it is 4 ingredients.

    What is Matcha?

Matcha is a fine ground green tea leaves, it is of Japanese origin. It is the concentrated form of a regular green tea which is why its more nutritional than the regular green tea.

    What does it taste like

It taste like dried green leaf, earthy and it is slightly bitter but not enough to put you off your drink, just perfect as it is. Matcha tea powder does not only make a refreshing cold or hot drink but it can also be added to food such as smoothies, cakes and even ice cream. It can also be made into frothy creamy foam like Dalgona coffee. Simply amazing!

    Can I make it ahead

Yes, it can be made up to 3 days in advance but it must be stored in the fridge during this period. If the tea looks separated, simply stir to combine and drink.

    Where to buy

Matcha tea powder can be bought online from amazon or tea speciality shops. It comes in different grades and can be a bit expensive but totally worth it in the long run. You get a lot more for your money if made at home as a cup of matcha latte can cost up to $4 at Starbucks or coffee shops.

It is best to know that the more expensive or green the colour of the matcha the better taste you will get. They are often labelled ceremonial grade.

As a matcha latte lover, I'm so excited to try this out! Can you recommend a brand of matcha that I could buy? Maybe on the cheaper side, please? There are SO MANY options on Amazon that I just don't know where to begin. Thank you!
