    Cooking meatballs in the oven is one of the easiest ways to cook this delicious and succulent ground beef recipe. You can now have dinner in 30 minutes!

    What are meatballs

    A meatball is ground meat or other meats, seasoned with spices and herbs of choice and rolled into a small ball. Meatballs can be baked, pan-fried, slow-cooked, pressure-cooked, air-fried, braised in sauce, or grilled (broiled). Today, you will learn how to bake them in the oven until nice, golden brown on the outside, and juicy on the inside.

    You can make meatballs with a mixture of meats or different kinds of meat, chicken, venison, or pork. It is also versatile and can be seasoned however you choose and if you like it plain and simple you can simply season it with salt and black pepper. Some popular variations include Swedish meatballs, Italian meatballs, and Turkish kofta.

    Meatballs can be served as an appetizer with dips or with a sauce such as gravy, tomato sauce, marinara, or teriyaki sauce.

    How do I make meatballs

    Preheat the oven to 200C/400F and line a baking sheet with foil or place a wire rack on the baking sheet.

    To a small mixing bowl, add bread, grated onions, and milk. Leave to soak for about 5 minutes then stir to combine.

    In a large bowl, add ground beef, egg, Italian seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, garlic granules, onion, bread and milk mixture, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix together until the beef mixture comes together.

    Scoop the meat mixture with a Tablespoon or small cookie dough scoop and Roll the meat mixture into 1 ½ inch to 2 inches balls. You should get between 27-30 balls.

    Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.

    Tips

    • Do not overmix the meat mixture as it will result in tough meatballs.
    • Spray your palms with some oil, to make it easier for rolling the meat mixture into a ball.
    • Keep the size of the meatballs equal so that it cooks evenly. You can use an ice cream scoop or cookie dough scoop for even meatballs.
    • Season the meat mixture however you like, if you like bold flavours then try these shawarma seasoning or pesto sauce.

    Ingredients
      

    • 750 g ground beef
    • 1 cup onions grated
    • 1 Tablespoon dried parsley
    • ½ cup parmesan cheese grated
    • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning
    • 2 sliced white bread crust off 45g
    • ½ cup whole milk
    • 1 large egg
    • 2 teaspoons garlic granules
    • Salt and black pepper to taste
    • Olive oil

    Instructions
     

    • Preheat the oven to200C/400F and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or place a wire rack on the baking sheet.
    • To a small mixing bowl, add bread, grated onions, and milk. Leave to soak for about 5 minutes then stir to combine.
    • In a large bowl, add ground beef, egg, Italian seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, garlic granules, onion, bread and milk mixture, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix together until the beef mixture comes together.

    • Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet, spray the top of the meatballs with olive oil (optional) and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Serve as desired and enjoyed!

    How long to cook meatballs in oven

    This will depend solely on the size of the meatballs and the temperature cooked. For example, if the size of the meatballs is about one and a half to two inches and you bake them at 200C/400F then it will typically cook between 20-25 minutes. The general rule is that meatballs will cook faster at higher temperatures, so if you cook at a lower temperature like 365F/180C then add additional 5 minutes to the cooking time specified.

    Internal temperature of meatballs

    To check that your meatballs are cooked through and well done, insert an instant meat thermometer into the center of the meatballs and the internal temperature of the meatballs should be at 160F/71C. Another way to check that it is fully cooked is by cutting one piece into halves the center should no longer be pink, it will be opaque and the juice should run clear.

    How long to bake meatballs at 350

    For meatballs that are 1 ½ inch to 2 inches, it will take approximately 25-30 minutes. However, every oven is different so start checking from the 20 minute mark.

    How to freeze uncooked meatballs

    Here is how to freeze meatballs individually, take a baking tray or large plate, and line it with parchment paper. Place the meatballs on it in a single layer, then place it into the freezer to flash freeze, or until the meatballs are frozen solid. Once frozen, take them out and transfer them into a Ziploc bag or store in an airtight container. It can be frozen for 2-3 months.
