How to make air fryer beef kabobs
- Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, brown sugar, ginger, dried thyme, garlic paste, dried parsley, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well combined.
- Marinate the Steak: Cut the sirloin steak into 1-inch cubes and add them to the marinade in a ziploc bag or a bowl. Make sure each piece is well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic film (cling film) and let it marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Allow the flavors to penetrate the meat. Bring the beef out of the fridge 30 minutes before you cook it so it comes to room temperature.
- Cut the bell peppers and onions about the same size you cut the beef. Add 1 Tablespoon olive oil and season with salt and black pepper. Toss to combine.
- Assemble the Kabobs: Thread the cubed steak on the skewers with the bell peppers and onions.
- Cook: Preheat your air fryer to 400F / 200C for 3 -5 minutes, then lightly spray the basket with oil. Place the skewers in the basket in a single layer. Cook for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through, until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness and charred on the edges.
- Serve and Enjoy: Once cooked, carefully remove the kabobs from the air fryer. Allow them to rest for a few minutes before serving. I served them with turmeric garlic rice and salad.
Can I use wooden skewers in the air fryer?
Yes. You can use wooden skewers in the air fryer. However, you will soak them in water for about 30 minutes before cooking. This will prevent them from burning during the cooking process.
My skewers do not fit my air fryer
If you are using wooden skewers, you can cut them to fit your air fryer. Alternatively, buy 13-cm skewers that will fit nicely in the air fryer basket.
How to store
Leftover kabobs can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the air fryer at 360F/180C for 2-3 minutes. You can spray it with oil to help keep them moist while reheating.
Variations and Substitutions
Meat: For this recipe, you can also use any marbled steak with some fat. You can also use chicken or even shrimp instead of beef.
Vegetables: Add your favorite vegetables, such as zucchini, mushrooms, or cherry tomatoes, to the skewers.
Cooking methods: If you don't have an air fryer, you can cook these kabobs on the stovetop (it can be messy, but equally good) on a grill or broil.
Cook in batches: Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Alternatively, use a rack in the basket, but be sure that the meat is not too close to the coil of the air fryer so it doesn't burn or cause an accident.
