This air fryer frozen cod is so easy to make. Delicious, tender and flaky fish the whole family will love. It comes together in under 15 minutes and is perfect for any busy weeknight.
In today's post, I write as a busy mum rather than a food blogger. You can all agree that there is not really a recipe for cooking frozen fish. So today, I am showing you my realistic way of cooking frozen cod in the air fryer in easy steps.
You don't need to measure any of the ingredients used, especially if they are not salt-based. When I cook frozen fish, I hardly measure anything. I just season the fish until my ancestors whisper, "That's okay, my child."
However, I reckon you will need about a teaspoon each of the seasonings I used. I can say what you are learning today is the perfect time and temperature to cook your frozen cod in the air fryer. Let's get to it, fam!

Why you will love to cook frozen cod in your air fryer
Budget friendly: I am not sure people talk about how economical buying frozen fish is, but it is. It's a budget-friendly option for those who don't have access to fresh fish or want to save some money. I only have an exception for frozen salmon, as it just doesn't taste the same for me.
Convenient: As a busy mum, I am all about convenience in the kitchen. There is no need to wait for the fish to thaw before cooking; just pop it straight into your air fryer, and dinner will be ready in 15 minutes. This is one recipe the whole family will enjoy!
Packed with protein: If you are looking to bulk up your meal with a good source of protein, cod is the way to go. 100g of this white fish will give you a good 24g of protein. What is not to love? Also, you need a little oil to cook it in the air fryer.
What you will need
Frozen cod: This could be loin, fillet or a combination of both. Also this recipe is for unbreaded cod making it gluten-free. Check my air fryer frozen breaded fillet recipe if your fish is breaded.
Seasonings: I used a combination of onion salt and 21 Salute seasoning (both from Trader Joe's). You can use your preferred seasoning. That's the whole point of today's post.
Olive oil: You can use any other flavorless cooking oil you want.
Lemon: This is optional but a final squeeze of lemon juice over the fish after it is cooked
Salt and black pepper to taste if needed. Use it if your seasoning does not already contain salt.
How to cook frozen cod in air fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 185C/390F for 3-5 minutes, then brush the basket with oil.
Brush the frozen fish with oil on both sides and place the skin side down.
Season with salt and black pepper, then generously season the fish with any seasoning of choice. ( I used onion salt and 21 salute seasoning)
Carefully place the seasoned frozen cod in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Cook the fish in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes or until it is fully cooked. The internal temperature should reach 45F/73C when checked with a meat thermometer.
Remove the fish immediately from the air fryer, garnish with chopped parsley, and squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Serve hot with your favorite side dish and enjoy!

What to serve it with
You can serve this air-fried fish with any side you want. It is versatile. I love it with some air fryer sweet potato, roasted potatoes and asparagus with parsley sauce or a side salad. Other options include sauteed vegetables, tacos, rice, or quinoa.
Tips
- Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket as it may lead to uneven cooking and may even steam the fish instead.
- If your fish is not fully cooked after 12 minutes, add 2-3 minutes of cooking time.
- Do you like your fish with a sauce? You will love my homemade parsley sauce or creamy dill sauce. You can even serve it with some Chinese curry sauce if you fancy.
How to store
If you have any leftovers, let it cool completely and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
