Why you will love it
I feel hesitant to share this recipe because it is so simple that it doesn't even feel like a recipe. However, I've realized that sometimes the most simple dishes are the ones people love the most.
That's why today we're talking about cooking canned potatoes in the air fryer. My children literally love these potatoes more than the traditional roast I spend hours making. In their words, 'There is just something about it that makes it delicious.'
I do not blame them. Canned potatoes, when cooked right, come out crispy on the outside and super creamy on the inside.
What you will need
Canned potatoes
Herbs de Provence: Substitute with Italian seasoning or mixed herbs (UK)
Olive oil: Substitute with any other flavorless oil of your choice.
Garlic powder: Substitute with garlic granules
Salt and black pepper
How to make air fryer canned potatoes
Preheat the air fryer to 385F / 190C for 3-5 minutes
Carefully open the canned potatoes, drain in a colander, and rinse under the tap. Pat it completely dry with a kitchen paper towel or leave it to air dry if time is not of the essence. This will enhance the crispiness of the potatoes.
Place the potatoes in a bowl and drizzle olive oil on top. Sprinkle herbs de Provence, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper over the potatoes. Toss or combine with a spatula, ensuring every potato is coated with the seasonings.
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil, then place the seasoned potatoes in a single layer so that they cook evenly. Cook for about 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through until golden and crispy on the outside and fork tender.
Serve as desired. enjoy
What to serve it with
Roasted canned potatoes can be served just as traditional roasted potatoes. They make a perfect side dish for any main course, such as roast chicken, beef, fish or pork. You can also add them to a salad or use it to make roasted potato salad. So good!
Tips
Most canned potatoes come in different sizes. If yours is not similar in size, simply cut it to about the same size so that it cooks evenly.
Use any other seasoning you prefer. Why not try my roast potato seasoning or all purpose seasoning on your spuds.
