Tools needed
Air fryer: I am using my favorite and trusted Cosori 5.5L, 1700W air fryer.
Skewers: I am using metal skewers (You can purchase it from Amazon). I prefer the metal ones to the wooden ones as they fit nicely in the air fryer basket and do not require presoaking.
What you will need
1 ½lb boneless skinless chicken thighs: I chose thighs over boneless chicken thighs for their higher fat content, making them juicier and tender in the air fryer. You can use chicken breast, but marinate it for at least 30 minutes to a few hours for better flavor.
1 ½ Tablespoon Cajun seasoning: This adds a delicious kick of flavor to the chicken. You can use a trusted store-bought version with little to no salt if you don't want to make your own.
1 teaspoon each of onion and garlic granules: These two aromatics are a must-have for me when cooking meat. You can use either of them if you prefer.
2 Tablespoons olive oil: substitute with any other flavorless cooking oil you prefer.
Salt and black pepper
Fresh parsley, finely chopped
Bang Bang Sauce Ingredients
½ cup Mayonnaise
⅓ cup Sweet chili sauce
2 Tablespoons honey
¼ cup Sriracha
1 teaspoon garlic granules
How to make bang bang chicken skewers in the air fryer
Make the bang bang sauce: Add mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and garlic granules to a bowl and stir to combine. Cover the sauce with plastic film and place it in the fridge to allow the flavors to meld until needed.
Season the chicken: Cut the boneless chicken thighs into bite-size pieces of about 1 - 1½ inches and transfer to a large bowl. Season with Cajun seasoning, onion and garlic granules, salt, black pepper, and olive oil. Toss well to ensure that every piece is evenly coated.
Assemble the skewers: Thread the seasoned chicken onto the metal skewers until exhausted.
Cook in the air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400F /200C for about 3-5 minutes. Carefully place the skewers in a single layer in the basket of your air fryer (you may need to cook them in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer). Cook for 8-12 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked and no longer pink with an internal temperature of 165F/74C flipping halfway through.
While the skewers are cooking, remove the sauce from the fridge, add chopped parsley, and mix to combine.
Carefully remove the skewers from the air fryer on a plate. Brush the bang bang sauce on each chicken skewers while it is still hot for better flavor absorption. Let the chicken rest for 3-5 minutes before serving.
Serve: Serve the chicken skewers hot with more bang bang sauce for dipping. Squeeze some fresh lime or lemon juice on top of the chicken for extra freshness. Enjoy!
